WHY PRAY?

Have you ever wondered,  "why should I even pray?"  I mean, if God is Sovereign, and He is going to do what He wants with people and world problems, why pray?  Many cliches in the church world that you may have heard and even said yourself sound like this, "God is in control of everything", or "It must have been God's will."  If God is in control of everything, then He is doing a pretty rotten job.  Famines, earthquakes, wars, disease, starvation...do we really think our God who is good, is causing all of this trouble in the earth?  This thought pattern and belief system only leads to a powerless Christian life.  God is good and He isn't the cause of the trouble in the world around us.  The trouble began in the garden of Eden when man rebelled against God.  Sin entered the world--therefore, trouble entered the world.

Authority and dominion over the works of darkness was restored to man through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  As we pray in the authority of His mighty Name, demons have to flee.   "And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:...And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus!"  (Ephesians 1:19-21 and 2:6)

So why pray?  Because our prayers affect change in the world.  Our prayers affect the lives of people in our families, co-workers, neighborhoods and nations.  God's amazing mercy is extended when believers call on His Name.  "...The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much," James 5:16.  In other words, the heart-felt, passionate prayer of the believer makes much power available!

Pray with authority.  Pray with faith in the God of the impossible.  Pray out loud.  Pray without ceasing.  Pray with power.   Let your voice ring loud in the spirit realm as a child of God!  God likes it when you pray!  "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart!"  (Jeremiah 29:11-13)
