Lost In The Dark?

My family and I recently enjoyed a trip to Carlsbad Caverns.  It was certainly one of the most beautiful caves I have ever seen.  It took a few minutes for my eyes to adjust to the unnatural, dim lighting of the cave. It was everything we expected:  cold, damp, beautiful and VERY DARK.

After eating in the lunch diner 750 feet below the surface and touring the "Big Room,"  we began our steep ascension back to the top.  Unfortunately, the elevators were out, so we got a good work-out to say the least!  It was a narrow path;  others were climbing down (at a faster rate, I might add), and the tension was high watching my 5 year old climb, keeping my footing on the damp rock, and trying to see in the dark.  I will never forget the moment, from a few stories below, when I set my eyes on the natural light of the sun in the cave opening above.  Even my body seemed to be energized!  I know my mind said "YES! FINALLY!  The light at the end of the long, dark, slippery, steep, cave climb!"

Have you ever felt like your life has slipped into a place of darkness?  All you find yourself looking for is just a little hope?  Maybe circumstances beyond your control have swept over you and caused you to fall into this dark, lonely place.  Maybe you are experiencing this today and it feels like there is no way out.  Our enemy, the devil, is walking about seeking whom he may devour, (I Peter 5:8).  Notice the scripture says, "MAY."  I want to encourage you with this:  as a born again child of God, blood-bought believer, bearing the name of Jesus Christ, WHAT YOU DON'T ALLOW THE DEVIL TO HAVE, HE CANNOT HAVE.  Today is the day to take back your life!

Jesus tells us in John 8:12, "I am the light of the world;  he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."  Jesus is the light that leads us out of the darkness.  He has called you to be a victorious overcomer in this life.  As you choose to set your eyes on Him, THE LIGHT, He will lift you out of that horrible place of fear, depression and despondency.  The way we place our eyes on Jesus, is by reading His Word.  He and His Word are One (John 1:1).  Look at these scriptures today:  John 8 and Philippians 4.  Fill your heart with His Word and follow Him...HIS LIGHT WILL BRING ALL OF THE HOPE AND STRENGTH YOU NEED TO OVERCOME THE ENEMY AND ESCAPE THE DARK!
